COMMISSIONER – Mrs Kemi Ogunyemi

Mrs Kemi Ogunyemi is a Commissioner at the Lagos state health service commission. A compassionate nurse with over 30 years’ experience in nursing.

Mrs Kemi Ogunyemi is keen on advancing nursing in Nigeria.

With extensive knowledge in hospital administration and hospital policies and strategies, Kemi Ogunyemi has been able to successfully establish healthcare units internationally and in Nigeria. She was a member of many hospital and healthcare committees during her time in the US and UK.

A Cancer nurse specialist with over 25 years’ experience, she holds a Master’s degree in Health Care Administration and a Master’s degree in Nursing from the University of Phoenix, USA. Professionally registered in both the US and UK Kemi Ogunyemi has been at the fore front of cancer care and the promotion of healthcare services in the US, UK and Nigeria. She has been featured in newspaper articles as well as TV media.

She has held many positions of leadership such as Unit director, Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia, Unit Manager/Lead Chemotherapy Nurse, Haematology/Oncology Outpatients department at the Royal Free Hospital, London.

As a leader, Kemi Ogunyemi demonstrated excellent leadership skills and has won many awards including Emory University, Atlanta Georgia, and Transformational Leadership Award in 2008.

 

She published a poster presentation on the Management of patients receiving high dose Interleukin2 at the Oncology Nursing Society conference in Orlando 2005.

Kemi Ogunyemi is also a public speaker and has been invited to conferences and events to enlighten and create awareness in the promotion of the well woman.

Kemi Ogunyemi also trains students and trained health professionals on health care topics including customer service and patient focused care.
